A man has been arrested and charged with attempted murder after a police officer was badly injured in Coatbridge.
Officers were rushed to the scene after reports of a "disturbance" along Mitchell Street at around 1am on Sunday morning.
A male officer, whose age is unknown, suffered an alleged head and neck injurty while he dealt with the incident.
A 35-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection to the incident.
A Police Scotland spokesman said: "Officers were responding to a call when they came across an ongoing disturbance in Mitchell Street, Coatbridge, around 1am on Sunday, 26 July.
"One male officer sustained a head and neck injury and was taken to Monklands Hospital by the Scottish Ambulance Service and released after treatment.
"A 35-year-old man was arrested and charged in connection with the incident."
