I AM amazed at the negativity from parents about their children returning to school – I thought that would have been received with pleasure.

I know that my grandchildren have been playing with their friends for the past couple of weeks and thoroughly enjoying themselves, likewise all the children enjoying themselves in Rouken Glen Park.

We have to start living again – hiding away can’t go on forever. I also think that it’s time our leaders cut back on their daily update as it’s getting very boring and repetitive. By using common sense it can be “onwards and upwards”.

HENRY Long, 19, and Jessie Cole and Albert Bowers, both 18, were sentenced for the manslaughter of PC Andrew Harper. Long was jailed for 16 years, while Bowers and Cole received 13 years.

Not long enough, since they will only have to serve two-thirds of their sentences. This means Long could be free in just under 11 years and Bowers and Cole in eight years and eight months. PC Harper’s wife has been given a life sentence.

Anyone attacking a police officer is in effect attacking civilised society and law and order so should forfeit remission and have a minimum of five years added to their sentence. In this case, 21 years and 16 years, whilst not ideal, would be more acceptable to the public. Will politicians for once stop posturing and introduce a top-up sentence for attacks on police officers?

JUST watched a video of Friday night in Soho, London, and it is a horror show. Very few people are wearing masks, no social distancing and a general air of “who cares”.

Why are so many folk in England unwilling to comply to beat this virus? Do they have a death wish? The scenes outside pubs and restaurants were appalling. No wonder they cannot control things. I really wish we had the power to close the border to England permanently.

THIS car carry-on is an ongoing issue (Car ban plan for 21 city schools to give extra space during Covid-19 restrictions)

Parents long before the virus were not just dropping off pupils but they were sitting running the car engines mostly outside residential areas. They cause obstructions, noise pollution and not forgetting they are a danger to little children.

I know for one that the residents of Garrowhill will be over the moon if it’s one of the 21 thats banned.
