A NEW zero-waste shop is being launched in Glasgow’s West.

Society Zero will open on Queen Margaret Drive on Saturday selling affordable plastic-free, environmentally friendly products including re-usable teabags, natural deodorant and washing-up soap bars.

The shop will also provide a refill service for foods including pasta, nuts, pulses, cereals, rice and herbs and cooking oils.

Sophie Lejeune a former nurse and youth worker, launched the social enterprise because she wanted to make zero-waste products more accessible to people from all backgrounds.

She said: “A lot of zero waste products can be quite expensive, especially if you don’t have a lot of affordable income, if any.

“We have had a wonderful response. Every day there are people peeking through the windows.”
