THE nationally acclaimed Museum of Science and Industry (MOSI) will be welcoming visitors back from Friday.

Families can reacquaint themselves with 250 years of innovations and ideas that started life in Manchester and went on to change the world.

It will continue to be free but visitors must book timed tickets and follow a one-way system to ensure social distancing is followed. Hand sanitisers will also be available throughout the museum.

MOSI will initially be open Wednesday to Sunday, from 10am to 5pm, and tickets can be booked up to two weeks in advance.

A spokesman said: "At first, we will focus on bringing the galleries in the New Warehouse back to life, together with half an acre of outdoor space in the Upper Yard.

"You will be able to explore Manchester’s rich legacy of innovations, discoveries and ideas that changed the world in the Revolution Manchester gallery, and find out how the city's heritage is interwoven with the cotton industry in the Textiles Gallery.

"Science will also be brought to life in front of your eyes in Experiment, and a deeper look at the solar system's biggest wonder is on offer in The Sun, the blockbuster exhibition that was due to close at the end of March, but will now remain open for a few more months.

Warrington Guardian:

"Plus, there will be new Science Stops to enjoy, where our expert explainers will be on hand to reveal more about our collection and the amazing stories behind our historic site."

The cafe will be open to eat in or take away or you can bring your own food for the picnic areas.

Certain areas of the museum will remain temporarily closed though including the bistro, Air and Space Hall, 1830 Station and 1830 Warehouse as well as The Power Hall which is undergoing restoration works.
