SOCIAL enterprise The Glad Cafe can finally announce a date its doors will reopen after months of uncertainty.

The South Side cafe and arts venue told punters they will be reopening on September 4.

But there will be some changes to the beloved cafe, which will restart up its own kitchen - and they are still looking for a brunch chef to help out.

The cafe will only be open three days a week, as they still await guidance on reintroducing their live entertainment.

A post on Twitter reads: "We are ecstatic to say that after all these months of not knowing when, or if, we would be re-opening our doors, the good news is that we will be offering socially distanced dining and drinking from Friday 4th Sept.

"We'll be open three days a week on a Friday, Saturday and Sunday through September.

"As we have no idea when it will be possible to get our venue programme up and running, we will be using both the venue and cafe space to ensure you can dine and drink safely.

"We are hugely relieved that we have been able to keep on all our cafe staff.

"However, we are sorry to announce the Hug and Pint / Hen of the Woods team will no longer be operating our catering offer, as we have decided to run the kitchen in house."

The cafe will say goodbye to their previous shared team, as they open their own kitchen.

"We bid a sad farewell to Jake, Laura and the team who have worked with us for nearly two years and would like to extend a huge thanks to them as they have been so easy to work with.

"Their support has been incredible in addition to making and serving amazing food for our customers

"It’s been some time since we have operated our own kitchen but we are ready for the challenge and have already started gearing up! We are delighted to have appointed a new head chef and are looking to employ a brunch chef to support her."
