RESIDENTS were evacuated from flats in Cessnock after a flat fire.
A 52-year-old man was arrested and charged in connection with the incident.
Police were called to Middleton Street last night to reports of an altercation in the street. A 28-year-old man was injured but did not require medical treatment.

The 52-year-old will be the subject of a report to the Procurator Fiscal.
Emergency services later rushed to the same street to reports of a flat fire.
A spokeswoman for Police Scotland said: "Around 8.30pm on Wednesday, August 12 2020, police were called to a report of an altercation involving two men in Middleton Street, Glasgow.
"Emergency services attended and found a 28-year-old man injured. He did not require medical treatment and a 52-year-old man will be the subject of a report to the Procurator Fiscal.

"Around 10.55pm on Wednesday 12 August 2020, police were called to a report of a fire at a flat in Middleton Street. Emergency services attended and a number of residents were evacuated from the building.
"A 52-year-old man was arrested and charged in connection with the incident. He is due before Glasgow Sheriff Court on Friday, August 14 2020 and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal."
