A city centre restaurant has closed as members of staff have been advised to self-isolate after a customer with confirmed coronavirus visited its premises "at the start of August".
Sapporo Teppanyaki, located on Ingram Street, made its customers aware this evening via a Facebook post.
The Japanese eatery announced with a "heavy heart" that it will be temporarily closing as members of staff have been advised to self-isolate for two weeks.
The Test and Trace process will now begin to identify customers who have visited the city centre restaurant.
A statement reads: "We have been informed today about a confirmed case of COVID-19 in the restaurant from the start of August, we have been asked to temporarily close while some of us self-isolate.
"Although we do this with a heavy heart, we fully support the request in the knowledge that taking these difficult steps will lead us to beating this invisible and silent wrecking ball that has taken so much from us already this year.
"We have been advised that anyone may have come in contact with the virus has been contacted and given advise so there is no need to worry."
NHSGGC’s Director of Public Health, Dr Linda de Caestecker said: “All relevant Public Health measures are in place and our Public Health Team are working with the venues to monitor the situation.
“We would ask staff, and customers who have been in the venue recently, to be aware of the symptoms of a fever, persistent cough or loss of taste or smell. If concerned they need to self-isolate immediately and book a test for Covid-19.”
"Our Test and Protect team continues to perform a vital role in contacting those who we believe to be close contacts of confirmed cases. Anyone who may have been exposed is being given appropriate advice.
"We ask the public to remain vigilant. The general measures to minimise the risk of COVID-19 remain the same - social distancing, regular hand washing, and being on the look-out for symptoms."
Anyone with any one or more of the symptoms should immediately self-isolate and order a test on the NHS inform website www.nhsinform.scot or by calling 0800 028 2816.
