Another 123 people have tested positive for coronavirus in the past 24-hours, the highest number of cases seen in three months.

It comes after high numbers were seen on Friday and Thursday, with the 71 and 77 cases seen respectively.

No further deaths related to Covid-19 were reported and the total remains 2492.

The majority of cases were registered in NHS Tayside, with 78 new positive tests.

An emerging cluster in the area has been linked with the 2 Sisters food processing plant in Coupar Angus.

First Minister Nicola Sturgeon added that while the numbers are concerning, the outbreak is being dealt with.

She wrote on Twitter: "123 new positive #Covid cases today is of course of concern. However, it also needs some context - 78 of them are in Tayside where we’re dealing with the outbreak at the 2 Sisters food processing plant.

"Important that all workers and household contacts follow advice to isolate."

Some 11 cases were reported in Greater Glasgow, eight in the Grampian health board and another eight in Lanarkshire.

There are 246 people in hospital with confirmed or suspected Covid-19, a decrease of eight in 24 hours.

Of these patients, two were in intensive care, no change from the previous day.
