RANGERS youth duo Rhys Breen and Kieran Wright have joined Partick Thistle on season-long loan deals.

Goalkeeper Wright joins the Jags having spent the latter part of the 2019/20 season with Alloa Athletic.

The Scottish youth international featured for the Wasps after joining in late January while also developing first team experience with Rangers’ Colts  in the Tunnock’s Caramel Wafer Challenge Cup.

Breen has also impressed at Ibrox and he has regularly trained with Steven Gerrard’s first team. He is yet to make an appearance for the senior squad, but his defensive talents have made him a regular under Graeme Murty with the reserves.

After adding the young pair to his squad, Firhill boss Ian McCall said: “I’m delighted that we have managed to secure these two young players.

“Kieran will train with us tomorrow then will be away for 8 days with the Scotland under 21s. He is here to battle it out with Jamie Sneddon for the number 1 jersey.

“Rhys is naturally left sided and is very quick. Pace was a little issue when I came back to Firhill and we have begun to address that with two or three of our signings.

“The last couple of seasons I have been reasonably lucky with loans from Rangers and Celtic and I wish these 2 lads all the very best in their time with us.”
