Drivers are being advised to avoid the area around Nitshill Road after a serious crash this morning.

Emergency services raced to the area and remain in attendance.

Nitshill Road at its junction with Parkhouse Road will remain closed to all pedestrians and traffic.

It has not yet been confirmed if anyone was injured in the crash.

A statement from Glasgow City Council's Traffic and Management team reads: "Due to a road traffic collision, the junction of Nitshill Road at Parkhouse Road will be closed to pedestrians and all traffic until further notice.

"Emergency Services are in attendance and road users are advised to avoid the area if possible."

A police diversion is in place and will take drivers as follows: 

  • Nitshill Road – Kennishead Road – Boydstone Road - Barrhead Road – Peat Road – Nitshill Road
  • Parkhouse Road – Whitriggs Road – Willowford Road – Wiltonburn Road – Nitshill Road

A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: "Emergency services are currently in attendance at the junction of Parkhouse Road and Nitshill Road in Glasgow following a report of a serious road crash.

"The road is closed and diversions are in place. Drivers are asked to avoid the area."
