A MUSICIAN who threatened to assault a fellow band member amid claims he locked him out of a bank account was fined £400 today.

Singer Kieran Ferguson, 25, also told fiddle player Ross Macleod to die in numerous text messages last March.

The pair, who were best pals and played in Scottish pop band Headland, had earlier fallen out.

Ferguson was enraged after leaving the band and apparently frozen out of a bank account by Mr Macleod.

The first offender pleaded guilty yesterday to engaging in a course of conduct which caused Mr Macleod fear or alarm.

The court heard Ferguson sent 100 messages to Mr Macleod which included violent threats.

Prosecutor Shona Howie told the court Ferguson told Mr Macleod to die and to drive his car full speed into a wall.

Ferguson also threatened to get himself the sack from the job where they both worked together.

He said: “I’m going to get the sack for hitting you and I’m going to make it worth my while.

“It’s your call how this plays out, I will stamp all over your head tomorrow.”

Police later attended Ferguson’s home in Easterhouse where he was arrested.

Bob McCormick, defending, told the court Mr Macleod had locked Ferguson out the band’s bank account which isolated his income of between £1,000 to £1,500.

He said: “This was someone that was living on benefits and this was a loss he had to sustain.

“That’s why he resorted to the threats but he was never going to do anything about that.

“He was someone who was upset due to the situation.”

Mr McCormick added that Ferguson is now a solo artist who will be in the recording studio shortly.

Sheriff Shona Gilroy said: “It wasn’t pleasant to hear these messages in the court was it?

"I don’t want to find you here again.”
