CELTIC have made an approach to sign Paris Saint-Gemain left-back Mitchell Bakker on loan that has been rejected by the French champions, according to reports.

The Dutch 20-year-old did not feature in last month's Champions League final, which the Parisiens lost 1-0 thanks to a second-half Serge Gnabry header.

Bakker came through the youth ranks at Ajax before joining moving to the French capital last summer.

However, Sky Sports' Anthony Joseph has insisted that PSG "have not completely closed the door on a potential deal" with the Scottish champions.

He added that bringing in a new left-back is Celtic's priority for the remainder of the transfer window.

Greg Taylor and Boli Bolingoli are the only left-sided full-backs currently on the books at Parkhead, with the latter expected to leave the club this summer after failing to impress in the starting line-up and breaking coronavirus protocols to go on an unsanctioned trip to Spain days before a Premiership fixture with Kilmarnock.
