A gang of three teenage girls attacked a female who was travelling alone on a train from Milngavie to Westerton.
Officers are now investigating the assault, which took place on August 15 at around 4.40pm.
CCTV footage shows the victim left the train at Westerton after she was attacked.
The victim is believed to have sustained abrasions to her face, however has still not come forward to the police.
Police have now launched an urgent appeal for the victim or anyone with information to come forward.
Anyone who witnessed what happened is asked to contact BTP by texting 61016 or calling 0800 40 50 40 quoting reference 355 of 15/08/20.
