A DRUMCHAPEL care home is to be demolished after a spate of vandalism, the Glasgow Times can reveal.
The Drumry House care home is to be razed to the ground "as soon as possible" amid fears children could be injured in the derelict site.
As previously reported, police were called to the vacant building last month after it was "smashed up" by a gang of youths.
The area's community council leader, Andy Lynch, said around 10 to 15 young people were using the site to smoke and drink underage.
Glasgow City Council confirmed the building was earmarked to be demolished due to regular break ins.
Property and Land Services (PALS), who manage the site, have arranged for the demolition contractor to take over the site from today.
Councillor Paul Carey, who had called for the building to scrapped, said: "I'm delighted that the council has finally listened to the community and have decided to demolish Drumry House.
"This property has been extensively vandalised over the last few months and has become a magnet for young children."
