Parents of pupils at the Gaelic secondary school in Glasgow have questioned a Covid policy that means children are unable to leave their bags in lockers.

The council said the school has had to restrict access to lockers because they are in a narrow corridor.

Parents say this has meant 12-year-old pupils are forced to carry their bags around all day - with text books for up to six subjects and a PE kit - and to and from school if they walk, because there is nowwhere to leave them.

A council spokeswoman said: “Our schools are following the advice and guidance that helps reduce the risk of the virus and each school community will introduce measures specific to their needs.

“The locker corridor in the Gaelic school is very narrow so there’s limited access at the moment to this area to help maintain social distancing.

“Pupils have been asked to only bring what they need for each day and the school is trying to limit the amount of paper and text books being used to reduce the amount of materials required at the moment.

“A pupil or family who have any concerns should speak to their Headteacher to find a solution to any issues.”
