A part of a house has collapsed due to high winds in Hamilton this morning. 

Fire crews were raced to the scene on Low Waters Road around 11.35am.

They remain at the scene to ensure the area is "safe". 

Nobody is thought to have been injured in the incident.

A local restaurant The Barleycorn, located nearby the house, announced that they are still open adding that their "neighbour's chimney breast blow down due to higher winds". 

However, the road remains restricted to traffic at the restaurant due to the fire appliances on the street.

Drivers are being advised to avoid the area.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service responded to reports of a "side of a house" collapsing. A spokesman added: "We got a call at 11.35am this morning to Low Waters Road in Hamilton and we are still in attendance at the moment."

A Police Scotland spokeswoman confirmed they were at the scene to regulate traffic. 

Diversion are expected to remain in place for a while, a statement added.

It read: "Motorists are asked to avoid Low Waters Road #Hamilton after the side of a building has collapsed due to adverse weather.

"No-one has been injured and diversions are likely to be in place for sometime. Thank you for your patience while we deal with this incident."
