I NOTE the council had reported 6718 reported incidents of illegally dumped waste, between January and March this year, which works out to 2239 incidents per month.

Another six months has passed and if the free bulk uplift service hasn’t resumed, there must be a huge backlog.

This is another shambolic decision by the council to make the city third worst in the UK for fly-tipping.

I SEE another group, The Sports Council for Glasgow has also been rejected for the new Communities Fund or the transitional fund to help those missed out in this decision.

The idea to open up funding and change the process has been a disaster and the previously worked IGF system never had anything like the problems encountered now.

At a time where we really need to get people safely back to sport and healthy lifestyles the Council have stopped any funding for a group who distribute and assist small sports clubs in areas of poverty and deprivation and to other worthy sports groups throughout Glasgow.

This will in effect lead to more clubs and people being unable to take part in sports that help with mental and physical health. Another short-sighted idea that has not shown up well for Glasgow.

I WOULD be interested in knowing who makes these decisions, and their reasons (‘Lifeline’ community centre faces permanent closure after axe of crucial funding, Friday).

I’m not suggesting there is any misgivings, but if it was more transparent , people of Glasgow could have a better understanding on how these decisions are made.

OUR story in yesterday’s Glasgow Times on some parents receiving school trip refunds sparked many comments online. Here’s a selection...

I’VE been told to stop paying towards a school trip which is next February, saying further updates will follow.

Jacqueline McLay

STILL waiting. School said they’re waiting for insurance company to pay out.

Kelly Hutchison

GOT a partial refund yesterday and the rest will be refunded at the end of November.

Karen Wilson

I’M still waiting on £500.

Amanda Gough

I GOT most of it back a few months back but still waiting on the deposit, which I’m happy to wait for as the school has said we will definitely get it back.

Julieann Mooney

IT’S shocking parents have had to wait so long to get money back for these trips.

I would certainly think twice about paying for such school trips in advance in the future. I don’t think we will see our kids going on school trips for a long time.

I WILL be interested to see what the next measures are introduced in the coming days to prevent the spread of coronavirus.

A second lockdown would be devastating for the morale of our nation and indeed, across the UK. I’m not sure if businesses can cope with tighter measures.

Glasgow Times:

I STILL can’t believe they are people who refuse to wear mask in shops.

Who do they think are impressing?

They are just selfish and I hope they get fined if caught flouting the rules.

No-one likes wearing masks, but we all have to do it currently

So, just wear the mask or don’t leave your home. It’s as simple as that.
