QUARRIERS in Glasgow has recorded six cases of coronavirus among its staff and patients.

The Calvey social care facility in Barlanark has confirmed that four members of staff and two people supported by the service have tested positive for Covid-19. This is an increase of one case since yesterday.

The facility cares for and supports people with disabilities, children and families, young people, young homeless people, people with epilepsy and carers.

The facility said it is working with Health Protection Scotland and Glasgow City Health and Social Care Partnership in response to the outbreak.

Andy Williamson, Service Director and Deputy Chief Executive of Quarriers said: “Quarriers can confirm that four members of staff and two people supported – an increase of one case since yesterday - at Quarriers Calvay Service have tested positive for COVID-19. The service is in regular contact with Health Protection Scotland, Glasgow City HSCP, and is following all relevant advice.

“Essential support is continuing in person with care staff wearing full PPE. To minimise risk and where assessed as appropriate, support is being offered by telephone.

“Staff and people we support at the service have been notified. A full list of people who had been in contact with the people affected has been supplied to the NHS Test and Protect team. Staff identified through Test and Protect are self-isolating for 14 days. We wish those who have tested positive a speedy and full recovery.”
