ICONIC lines from the best selling album of the 1990s have popped up across Glasgow. 

“Please don’t put your life in the hands of a rock and roll band” and “Where were you while we were getting high?” are just some of the well-known lyrics from Oasis’ legendary (What’s the Story) Morning Glory to appear on posters throughout the city.

The lines have been belted out by punters in pubs and clubs across Glasgow since the album’s release in 1995.

But as bars and boozers across the city are silent and shut by ten, the rock legends are celebrating Morning Glory’s 25th anniversary quietly.

The mystery posters have been spotted in Anderston, Tradeston and Cowcaddens among other locations to tease the re-release of the band’s second album on vinyl next Friday, October 2.

Oasis has strong ties to Glasgow, famously being discovered in King Tut’s Wah Wah Hut on St Vincent Street. 

East Kilbride-born owner of Creation Records signed the Manchester band after hearing them play a set at the iconic city-centre venue. 

The band went on to sell millions of records for the label off the back of the chance encounter.

Former frontman Liam Gallagher was due to play Glasgow’s TRNSMT festival this year, which has been postponed until 2021. 

The group’s second album entered the UK charts at No.1 with 269,000 sales, spending a total of 10 weeks at the top of the league. It would remain in the charts for eight and a half years.

The re-issued albums will come in a double silver-coloured LP or a picture disc, both with remastered audio, on heavyweight vinyl and will come with replica handwritten lyrics from Noel Gallagher.
