Another 714 people have tested positive for coronavirus in the past 24-hours in the biggest daily tally yet.

More than 11% of those tested returned positive results.

However, no deaths of people who tested positive were registered since yesterday.

The largest increase in cases was seen in Greater Glasgow with 290 people testing positive.

NHS Lanarkshire has seen 91 new cases and 113 people tested positive in NHS Lothian.

As of yesterday, 99 people were in hospital with confirmed coronavirus, of which 11 were in intensive care.

First Minister Nicola Sturgeon warned this was impacted by university clusters, including an outbreak seen at Glasgow University.

She said: "This is our biggest daily tally of cases so far. Important therefore to start with some caveats.

"We are doing much more testing now than in Spring. These figures are impacted by university clusters. And Test & Protect is working hard and well.

She warned there was "absolutely no room for complacency".

"So, please, for now, stay out of each other’s houses; stick to the 6/2 rule outdoors and in indoor public places; download; and follow FACTS.

"We will get through this - but only if we all act to protect ourselves and each other. Let’s stick with it."
