A THIEF who broke into a cafe and stole an electronic tablet faces a prison sentence.

Joseph Wilson smashed a glass front door to gain entry to Little Canteen in Glasgow in July this year.

Glasgow Sheriff Court heard Wilson swiped the tablet worth £50 in the early hours of the morning.

Wilson, who has lengthy previous convictions, pleaded guilty yesterday to breaking into the cafe and stealing the tablet.

Ross Anderson, defending, asked Sheriff Paul Crozier to put Wilson on a drug treatment order.

The sheriff replied: “He is a man who committed this offence during a time of crisis for this country.

“He broke into domestic premises and stole an electronic device while subjected to two bail orders.

“Why on earth should I defer this to the drug court?”

Sentence was deferred until next month for more background information to become available.

Wilson had his remand in custody continued meantime.
