PLANS have been drawn up to erect a phone mast in Baillieston.

Network Three is bidding to build the hub on Main Street and the proposals will be considered by council officers.

In a letter submitted to Glasgow City Council planning chiefs, bosses from Hutchision 3G UK – the network’s legal name – wrote: “The location has been identified as being necessary for H3G Ltd business development and meets its specific technical and operational requirements.

“The identification of this location follows pre- application discussion with your department

“We now make a formal application to you as planning authority.”

Elsewhere, there are also plans to transform a derelict shop into a takeaway.

Developers are hopeful of breathing new life into 29 Main Street, Baillieston.

The site was previously occupied by M. R. Mall convenience store.
