TWO high schools in Renfrewshire have had visits from the test and protect team following positive Covid-19 cases.

Parents of pupils at St Benedict's High School in Linwood and Gleniffer High School in Paisley have been advised by letter that there has been no transmission of the virus within either of the schools.

Pupils are being asked to attend school as normal, unless they have been told directly to self-isolate at home.

Renfrewshire Council said on Twitter: "We can confirm Covid19 NHS Test and Protect contact tracing is today underway at @stbenedictsren and @GlenifferHigh.

"All parents and carers with a child at either school have been contacted via text message with a letter from @NHSGGC to make them aware.

"We have worked with the NHS to identify any close contacts. Those individuals are being contacted directly to ask them to self-isolate. Only those affected will be contacted. All other pupils and staff should attend school as normal.

"The NHS public health team advise there is no evidence of transmission at either school, that robust control measures are in place, and both schools remain safe to remain open as normal. Due to patient confidentiality, no further details will be released.

"We all have a role to play to stop the virus spreading. If someone in your household develops Covid19 symptoms, please do not send your child to school – you should all self-isolate and book a test for anyone with symptoms."
