A TEENAGER has been charged with animal cruelty after a sick video of a cat being kicked was shared on social media.
The 18-year-old suspect was traced by police after officers received complaints about an incident that took place near Lamont Farm, in Erskine, on Sunday.
Chief Inspector Jim Cast, area commander for Renfrewshire and Inverclyde, told The Gazette: “We were made aware by members of the public and online activity on Monday morning of a video being circulated on social media platforms.
“An 18-year-old man in the video was traced and has been charged with an animal cruelty offence."
The cat, named Zorro, is recovering with the help of veterinary care.
Police have said a report on the incident will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal and the suspect is expected to appear in court at a later date.
