A TEENAGE thug knocked a stranger unconscious with one punch days after assaulting three police officers.

The 17-year-old boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons, pounced on Alexander Hayden in July this year.

The attacker punched Mr Hayden to the head which caused him to fall to the ground in St Georges Cross.

The city’s Sheriff Court heard Mr Hayden struck his head on the roadway and was knocked unconscious.

The teenage thug pleaded guilty to the assault to Mr Hayden’s severe injury while on bail for two separate matters.

The hearing was also told the boy punched Alan Taylor on the head at The Fells in Lennoxtown in May this year.

He then went on to assault three police officers on the and date in the area’s Greenhead Road.

The attacker turned on PC Fraser Chisholm while he was on duty by punching his head to his severe injury before spitting at PCs Mhairi Forsyth and Haley Harris.

The boy pleaded guilty to the four assaults.

The court was told the boy had assaulted ambulance staff in Glasgow’s Maryhill in June.

The boy attempted to punch Technician Gerald McKenna and Paramedic Stephen Purvis on their heads and bodies before repeatedly spitting at their heads.

The thug also uttered threats of violence and challenged police officers to a fight as well as attempting to urinate on a bus.

The boy admitted carrying out the two assaults and behaving in a threatening or abusive manner.

Sentence was deferred until the end of the month for background reports.

The teenager, who appeared from custody, had his remand continued meantime.
