Two employees at a Glasgow cinema have tested positive for coronavirus in recent weeks.

The cases were linked to staff members at the ODEON Luxe Glasgow Quay on Paisley Road.

The Glasgow Times understands one employee tested positive for Covid-19 on September 29, while the other tested positive on October 9.

Other employees thought to be in contact with the workers tested negative for the virus.

On both occasions the cinema was deep cleaned, officials have confirmed.

A spokesman said: “ODEON Glasgow Quay operates to the highest standards of health and safety, and we have clear and robust COVID safety measures in place.

“On learning that two colleagues at our Glasgow cinema on separate occasions tested positive for COVID, we acted quickly and in line with government guidelines.

“The two affected colleagues were instructed to stay at home and self-isolate and we are pleased to report they are recovering well. Other relevant colleagues who were tested have returned negative results.

“We undertook a deep clean of the cinema in these instances, on top of the extensive and regular cleans we have in place."

The spokesman also assured that thorough shift records assist contact tracing of employees.

“Meanwhile, we maintain thorough shift records to keep track of employees, allowing us to quickly respond and contact others following a positive test," he added.

“We have confidence in the safety measures we have in place, and we are proud in the way the team at Glasgow Quay responded.”
