A group of thugs robbed a butchers shop of a four-figure sum of money. 

A female employee at James Chapman's butchers shop in Glasgow Road in Wishaw was left badly shaken following the incident. 

She was confronted by the three men dressed in dark clothing around 11.30pm on Wednesday. 

The men made off with a safe, believed to contain a four-figure sum of money. 

Police investigations have revealed the suspects suspects loaded the safe into a dark-coloured 4x4 car, driven by a fourth suspect. 

Officers have launched a probe into the robbery as they appeal for information.

Detective Sergeant Scott Wilson said: “I am appealing to members of the public, motorists and taxi-drivers who may have been in that area around the time of the incident. 

"Did you see a dark coloured 4 x 4 car, did not notice the suspects – if you have dash cam, please check it as you may have captured an image which could assist us in our investigation.

"Any small piece of information could prove vital as we piece together what has happened.”
