A CHARITY worker out walking his dog who kicked a man unconscious on New Year’s day avoided jail.

Ross Devlin, 26, pounced on George Nobbs outside a flat in Milton on January 1.

Mr Nobbs had earlier argued with another man before Devlin punched him then booted his head.

Devlin, who works for charity Lambhill Stables, pleaded guilty at Glasgow Sheriff Court to the assault to Mr Nobb’s severe injury.

Sheriff Sean Murphy QC ordered Devlin to do 300 hours of unpaid work.

He was also tagged for six months keeping him indoors between 7pm and 7am.

Prosecutor Hannah Terrance told the court Devlin, of Milton, was out with his pet when he initially repeatedly punched Mr Nobbs.

She added : “While on the ground, Devlin moved forward and kicked Mr Nobbs to the head causing him to lose consciousness.

“While Mr Nobbs was still unconscious, Devlin walked back over to him as he was lying face down on the roadway and spat on him.”

The blood soaked victim came to and staggered away.

He suffered a broken leg, rib and fractured knee.
