POLICE are on the trail of a man who crashed and abandoned a van in Renfrew.

Officers on patrol at around 2.20am on Sunday attempted to stop a silver Renault Master seen travelling northbound on Murray Street before turning into Craigielea Road.

The van was then found abandoned, having collided with another vehicle.

It’s engine was still running and a man was seen making off in the direction of Albert Road.

Police have said enquiries are ongoing to trace the owner of the van to confirm if the vehicle had been stolen.

Witnesses and anyone else who has information are asked to call officers on 101.
