FOUR people have tested positive for Covid-19 at a Glasgow court. 

Health officials have moved in to Glasgow Sheriff Court after the cases of the virus were discovered. 

The Carlton Place building has now been deep cleaned, bosses say, and they insist steps are being taken to manage the outbreak.

A Scottish Courts and Tribunals Service spokesman said: "We can confirm that 4 people at Glasgow Sheriff and Justice of the Peace Court have tested positive for Coronavirus.

"We are in contact with the local Health Protection team and are fully implementing health and safety procedures.

“We rigorously follow Public Health Scotland guidance to minimise the spread of Coronavirus and an enhanced cleaning regime is in place, both overnight and during court hours. 

"The nightly cleaning regime meets the standard set by Health Protection Scotland for cleaning and disinfection in the event of there being a case on the premises.

"By cleaning to this standard every day we maintain the safest possible working environment for all court users and staff.

“Measures to ensure 2m physical distancing is maintained are in place, all court users are required to wear face coverings in communal areas and we have introduced contact tracing.

"A dynamic risk assessment is carried out immediately on notification of a confirmed or suspected case, with additional targeted enhanced cleaning carried out where required.

“The court remains open and we would urge everyone attending to follow the advice on hygiene, face coverings and physical distancing.”
