CHRISTMAS fans can celebrate early this year - as Showcase Cinemas have announced a festive film treat.

The cinema chain has announced a one-off screening for Christmas classic Home Alone.

Fans will be able to catch the Macaulay Culkin cult hit this weekend on Sunday October 25th at the Showcase Cinema de Lux Glasgow and Paisley theatres.

Mark Barlow, general manager of Showcase Cinemas UK, said: “This year has been tough on everyone and, with Christmas looking to be very different for 2020, we wanted to invite film fans to start the season earlier than ever before and join us for some much needed festive fun.

“We’re thrilled to be able to show Home Alone as every year it has consistently tops the polls as the nation’s favourite Christmas movie.

"So, we couldn’t think of a better film to bring to the big screen in Scotland.”

Released in 1990, Home Alone, which also stars Catherine O'Hara, Joe Pesci and Daniel Stern, became an instant Christmas classic for families across the world 30 years ago.

The film tells the story of eight-year-old Kevin McCallister, played by Macaulay Culkin, who has been left at home as his family travel to France to celebrate the festive season.

Young Kevin must protect his house from intruders and put up a fight, getting into hilarious situations along the way.

The Showcase screenings will also be a bargain for cinemagoers with tickets prices at just £5.

The ticket price will also include a free bag of chocolate as an extra festive treat for customers.

Tickets are to be booked in advance and can be done at showcasecinemas.co.uk/film-info/home-alone.

Both Showcase venues will also be celebrating the upcoming spooky season, with a series of iconic horror and slasher films screening at the end of the month.

The creepy programme includes a director's cut of Oscar award-winning horror The Exorcist on Friday October 30th and slasher hit John Carpenter's Halloween, starring Jamie Lee Curtis, on Saturday October 31st.

Films can be booked at showcasecinemas.co.uk.
