CAMPAIGNING councillors calling for 20mph zones in all residential areas in Inverclyde say a trend has been set by other areas.
Jim MacLeod and Chris Curley put forward their motion at the full council recently and have now welcomed moves by Glasgow City and Borders councils to extend their 20mph restrictions.
Councillor Curley said: "The growing number of local authorities implementing default 20mph speed limits within residential areas in Scotland is very welcome.
"Making 20mph the default speed limit in residential areas sends a clear message to drivers on what speed is suitable in a particular area and it is time for Inverclyde to take this step.”
Councillor MacLeod added: "There are so many positives that can come from this, as many more local authorities are finding out."
