THOUGH not organised by anyone in the Yes movement, we thought Yessers might like to know of events being held next month which are trying to find “a poetic constitution” for Scotland.
The organisers say: “If you, the citizens of Scotland, had the chance to write your own constitution, what would it say? How do we best express what it is to be Scottish/New Scottish today? Might the freedoms and fluidity of poetry offer a shared language for our civic values, ambitions, visions?
“We invite all Scots and New Scots – living at home or abroad – to take part in our consultation to share and explore what Scotland means to you today. The collated responses will inspire and inform a new play, to be premiered in a special culmination of our festival hub on St Andrew’s Day on Monday, November 30.”

Alongside the public consultation, which starts on November 13, the organisers are running three creative workshops, enabling specific groups to come together to explore their take on what it means to be Scottish/New Scottish.
The under-25s workshop is on November 14 from 1pm to 2.30pm; the New Scots workshop is on November 15 from 11am to 12.30pm, and the women-only workshop is from 6pm to 7.30pm. Register for the workshops for free at Eventbrite.
This event is presented by the College of Arts at the University of Glasgow as part of the Being Human festival, the UK’s only national festival of the humanities, taking place November 12 to 22.
