BISHOP John Keenan is calling for a 24-hour 'circuit break' from Covid this Christmas.

The leader of the Catholic church in Inverclyde is urging the government to take steps to prevent a 'digital' Christmas day, comparing his idea with the festive ceasefire on the Western Front during the First World War.

Deputy First Minister John Swinney responded by praising the bishop for highlighting the issue of loneliness.
