THE M8 is to close overnight for investigation work on the new bridge at Sighthill.

The construction firm Amey will be carrying out survey work on the M8 Junction 15 Baird Street bridge overnight from 10pm to 6am each night for nearly a month.

One lane of both the east and westbound carriages of the motorway will be closed and both the on and off sliproads at Junction 15 will be closed every night between Monday, November 2 and Tuesday, December 1.

The scheme has been planned in consultation with Transport Scotland, Traffic Scotland, the emergency services, Glasgow Royal Infirmary and Glasgow city council.

The work comes as part of the comprehensive redevelopment of Sighthill, which includes a new bridge linking the new homes being built in the area with the city centre.
