IF UK Government furlough funding is only available in November, Scotland could go into a Tier 4 lockdown this month.

Nicola Sturgeon said she thinks current measures in Scotland are working but can't be certain that will be sustained.

Ms Sturgeon said: "We might have to go further and I can't rule out moving to level four for all or part of the country."

Ms Sturgeon said the Scottish Government faces a dillemma of moving to a tougher lockdown sooner while cash is available or wait until the evidence shows Scotland needs tougher measures and find out there is not financial support available.

Boris Johnson has put England into a four week lockdown from Thursday with the furlough scheme extened until the end of November.

Ms Sturgeon added: "Should we take the opportunity to take financial support and move faster. The benefit would be supressing further and faster when financial support is available."

She added: "Ideally we would wait until the next scheduled review point next Tuesday."

She said Scotland could "put off vital decisions while we debate with the Treasury".

Ms sturgeon said: "I hope we get clarity today."

"If we know furlough is available without limit of time we would not take decisions too quickly.

"If it remains time limited we will face having to take that decision more quickly."
