A FAMOUS Glaswegian chant has caught the attention of the McFly boys who admit they love playing in the city just to hear it.

The pop-rockers revealed they look forward to a Glasgow trip – because it is the only place in the UK to hear ‘here we f**king go’.

Bassist Dougie Poynter, 32, beamed, “You know what I actually love that you do the…here we, here we, here we f**king go.

“No one else in the UK gets that.”

Glasgow Times:

Speaking to the Glasgow Times before lockdown in March the boys had been preparing for their UK tour which included a date at the Hydro – now postponed to May 11, next year – and they promised their city show will be one to remember.

Singer Tom Fletcher teased: “You can expect four sweaty guys who will remember 80 percent of their lyrics and will play about 40 percent of the right notes in tune about 20 percent of the time. That’s the maths of a McFly show.”

He added: “I love it up there (Glasgow), it is a really cool place.

“I like going for walks, a bit of shopping, grab some books and toys – it is wicked.

“There is a good vegan place and a good spa as well. I forget the names of all these places but once I walk around I find them, it is a good wandering place.”

He continued: “I think it was in Glasgow that I had fans randomly when I went into my hotel room. There was some fans in my room back in the day.

“They managed to break into my room, just people waiting in there for you giggling.”

Dougie joked: “You sure you just didn’t get the wrong room.”

Tom said with a smile: “That’s it, these guys must be my fans.”

Glasgow Times:

McFly - including singer Danny Jones and drummer Harry Judd - formed in London in 2003 taking their name from the Back to the Future character Marty McFly.

Their debut single 5 Colours in Her Hair was released the following year propelling them into the spotlight.

At the height of their fame, the band scored seven number ones, appeared in the Hollywood movie Just My Luck with Lindsay Lohan and Chris Pine, won a Brit Award before taking an unexpected break.

Their new album – Young Dumb Thrills – is their first in 10 years and to mark the occasion the boys will appear in a one-off special It’s All About Us which will air on ITV on Saturday, November 14 proving that their break is well and truly over.

“I don’t know if it feels like a comeback. It kind of feels like the hiatus we had didn’t happen,” revealed Tom.

The 35-year-old then joked: “It feel like I have been staring at these guys faces forever without any break.”

Dougie continued: “I think there was a danger that it would have gone on for years and years. We would have never done it again.

“It was really anunplanned hiatus that we really didn’t know how to get out of and it turned out to get out of it, it just took our manager to book a show.

‘Are you guys going to play or what?’ We went, played and that was it. It was the easiest way to get out if it.”

Tom added: “I don’t think any of us had proper time of. I think it was really busy for most of us when we are working on lots of projects but I don’t think any of us enjoyed time away from the band. That felt really weird.

“This year will be our 17th year as a band so it is all we know.

“This one long kind of cycle of recording touring recording touring recording touring - and it’s amazing then suddenly for it to stop - that feels really strange you don’t know what to do with yourself.”
