TWO staff members at a Maryhill care home have tested positive for coronavirus.

The home said that the two Wyndford Locks carers began self-isolating immediately after the test.

Wyndford Locks has four sites and it is understood that the two members of staff worked in different sites. They would not have worked in the home’s two other buildings, the company said.

No residents of the units where the two members of staff worked are displaying symptoms of coronavirus and the home said it was working with Public Health Scotland to get tests sent to the facility.

The home has stopped non-essential visitors from coming and is working to get tests for residents.

Those with families in the Maryhill facility are being kept up to date with information about the outbreak, the home said.

A spokeswoman for the home said: “Following two colleagues testing positive, we are taking additional precautions to minimise the risk of transmission to other colleagues and residents.

“This includes closing the home to non-essential visitors and facilitating resident testing.

“The positive staff cases are currently contained to two of the four separate buildings at Wyndford Locks and no residents are showing symptoms.

“Both colleagues began isolating immediately following the positive result, and we wish them a speedy recovery.

“We are working closely with our local health and care partners and are keeping the next of kin of the residents at Wyndford Locks updated of the situation.”
