OVER 800 crisis grants have been issued in Inverclyde over the last three months.

The Scottish Welfare Fund made 815 payments to people.

This represents an increase of 38 per cent from last year.

Crisis grants are granted to help pay for essentials such as food, heating costs, and household necessities.

Since the fund was established in 2013 it has paid out 16,475 crisis grants to households in Inverclyde.
