A DOCUMENTARY series charting the day-to-day lives of staff and passengers at Glasgow Central station has been renewed for a third season. 

Inside Central Station will return to BBC Scotland in spring 2021 after reaching nearly 700,000 Scots to date. 

The BBC Scotland show highlights passenger tales and revisits the familiar faces on the concourse and behind the scenes at one of Britain’s busiest train stations as they battle to get the country back on track following the challenging events of the past year.

David Harron, commissioning editor factual at BBC Scotland, said: “Inside Central Station has been one of the most popular programmes on the BBC Scotland channel. 

"The stories and characters from the station have really resonated with our audience and I’m delighted that we’re commissioning another series.”

The age old institution has responded and adapted like never before during the pandemic, with the team demonstrating incredible dynamism and resilience against a backdrop of unprecedented change as an industry.

Series 2 of Inside Central Station was a hit for BBC Scotland, proving to be one of their most popular series and reaching 700,000 Scots this year to date.

Craig Hunter, creative director, factual, at STV Studios, which will produce six 60 minute episodes, said: “Central station is more than just a train station, for many it’s an essential lifeline to get the country back up and running - providing a much-needed service for people and businesses all over the central belt and beyond. This third series follows our favourite characters during the most challenging of times.”
