WEST END star Kerry Ellis and leading orchestra for young people Glasgow Philharmonia are joining forces for a special online concert later this month.
Movies to Musicals, produced by the orchestra’s conductor Ross Gunning, had to shelve its plans for 2020 after the coronavirus outbreak hit.
Ross, 25, from Clarkston, explains: “After selling out the Concert Hall for six years in a row, and a hit show in February with Kerry and Steps star Faye Tozer, we haven’t been able to do anything since. I can’t wait to get back to performing in front of an audience.”
On Sunday, November 22, a 16-piece, socially distanced orchestra will join Kerry – Britain’s first Elphaba in Wicked, and the star of many West End musicals including We Will Rock You and Oliver! – and guests, for a glittering live-streamed event.

Ross explained: “Kerry is patron of Movies to Musicals and loves what the organisation does for young performers who want to get into the arts industry.”
Ross, a graduate of Glasgow’s Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, set up Glasgow Philharmonia when he was a teenager. Since then, more than 2000 young performers aged between 18 and 30 have had the opportunity to take part for free. Fans can buy tickets for the November 22 concert on the Movies to Musicals Facebook page.
