A PARTNERSHIP between Scotland's travel operators, including First Bus, and the local authorities has been announced.
The Scottish Government’s Bus Partnership Fund is a £500 million fund which will deliver bus priority measures on local and trunk roads, allowing for improved journey times.
Andrew Jarvis, managing director of First Bus, said: “The announcement and implementation of the Bus Partnership Fund is exactly what the country needs if we’re to change people’s mindsets and help decarbonise the way that we move around.
"The provision and improvement of bus priority measures will give bus operators a real chance to deliver a better service for customers through faster journey times leading to lower fares."
The fund will also encourage the use of buses as an eco-friendly travel alternative.
Andrew said: "It will also reduce traffic congestion and allow the wider transport industry to play their part in delivering a sustainable low carbon future for future generations to enjoy.”
