CAMPAIGNERS have called for all Scotland's games to be free to watch after the men's team qualified for a major tournament for the first time in 22 years.

The Hampden Collection - a group dedicated to celebrating the history of Scotland's national stadium - claimed victory after they launched a campaign for the team's decisive win against Serbia was shown on free-to-air TV

Barry Kirk, the collection's head of communications, said the decision to show the game for free proved the campaign was not "a waste of time".

He added: "If we want to follow the men's national team, we have to fork out big money to watch them. That is fundamentally wrong.

"Scotland play Israel on Wednesday night in another massive game, which hopefully gets us guaranteed play-off places for the next two major championships.

"We want it to be free-to-air. We want to watch our heroes once again and more importantly, safe in the knowledge everyone has access to it."

Sky Sports, which owns the rights to broadcast Scotland's national men's games, was approached for comment.
