INVERCLYDE'S MSP Stuart McMillan has told of his relief at Inverclyde remaining in Level 3 of the government's coronavirus restrictions.

While 11 other areas were pushed into lockdown under tier four, the district held its position.

Mr McMillan said: “We all want to see our area move to lower levels of restrictions, and with many other areas in the west of Scotland moving to Level 4 for three weeks from Friday, it’s vital that we continue to see a reduction in the number of cases locally.

"Only by showing that the spread of the virus is continuing to decrease will we be able to move to Level 2 in the near future."

The MSP has urged people to continue adhering to the rules regime.

He told the Tele: “These restrictions are hard, particularly as the days are darker and the weather more miserable – but it’s imperative that we continue to stick with them to see the restrictions relaxed."
