THE body of a missing man has been found near a railway station in Glasgow. 

Carl Sutcliffe, 45, was reported missing from his home in St Helens, England, on Saturday morning. 

British Transport Police (BTP) confirmed that officers were called to a casualty close to High Street station on Tuesday morning.

Mr Sutcliffe was pronounced dead at the scene. 

A BTP spokeswoman said: "Officers were called to the area close to High Street station in Glasgow shortly before 11am on November 17 following reports of a casualty close to the tracks.

"Paramedics also attended however sadly a person was pronounced dead at the scene. The incident is not being treated as suspicious."

A spokeswoman for Merseyside Police added: "Merseyside Police can confirm that the body of 45-year-old Carl Sutcliffe was sadly found in Glasgow on Tuesday, November 17.

"Mr Sutcliffe was reported missing from his home in St Helens on Saturday, November 14.

"At this stage the death is not believed to be suspicious. His next of kin have been informed.

"A post mortem examination will take place to establish the cause of death."
