Inspector Tracy Harkins said “I am absolutely disgusted with those responsible for this despicable crime and would urge all local residents to ensure that elderly members of their family are reminded of this type of crime.

"Unfortunately these incidents are on the increase and we continue to target those responsible.

"I would like to ask for the assistance of local residents by remaining vigilant to any workmen in the area.

"If in doubt, please contact us on telephone number 101 and we will check whether the workers are legitimate or not.

"In addition, it is always beneficial to note down the registration number of any suspect vehicles. If businesses are legitimate they will have no issue in providing identification to the police”

Phone police on 101 if you have any information.
