GLASGOW Housing Association has received permission for 22 homes on Carnwadric Road.

The properties will be built on a site which lies just inside the Glasgow City Council boundary.

There will be a mix of flats, townhouses and terraced house, accessed through a new road off Carnwadric Road.

A central park will be the “focal point” of the new development, providing “community amenity and play space for the residents”.

“The terraced houses look onto the park to the front, with no parking spaces directly in view of the principal living rooms,” the application stated. There will be 16 car parking spaces on the site.

There was a community centre on the land, but it was demolished following a fire, with the application adding: “The site was previously used as a community hall with parking, however the hall has now been demolished with only the remnants of the parking remaining.”

Maps submitted by the applicant show the site lies between the former Caledonian Railway and the Auldhouse Burn. There is a mound on the site which “appears to come from the built-up ground supporting the former railway line”.

The Scottish Environment Protection Agency raised no objection the application.

A letter to the council, from the agency, said a flood risk assessment had confirmed the development would be protected by the White Cart Water flood protection scheme.
