COPS are heartbroken after the death of a well-loved police dog.
A long-serving member of both Strathclyde Police and Police Scotland's canine squads, Ziggy's death was announced on Twitter last night.
He retired from service in August after joining the ranks in 2009.
Police Scotland dogs wrote: "We are saddened to hear of the passing of PD [police dog] Ziggy. Ziggy served with Strathclyde and Police Scotland from 2009-2020.

"He retired in August and lived his retirement to the fullest. He was a fantastic PD and he will be sorely missed by all at Police Scotland Dogs.
"Run free big guy."
Social media users joined in paying tribute to the crime-busting mutt.
One wrote: "Rest in Peace beautiful RPD Ziggy and thank you for your long valuable service, boy. Heartfelt thoughts and sincere condolences to your family and police family."
Another said: "Good boy Ziggy, thinking of you and those who loved you."
