Thugs who assault police in Scotland will be forced to pay for officers' recovery, under new laws being tabled at Holyrood.
Justice Secretary Humza Yousaf revealed courts will be able to reimpose Restitution Orders on those who attack police officers - making them pay cash to help them recuperate.

Speaking with The Sun, the minister revealed the scheme will start in February next year.
He said: “The courts will be able to impose a restitution order on those who commit such a disgraceful crime against our police officers and staff — requiring the offender to contribute towards support services for the victims of such assault.”
It is understood the legislation will be tabled at Holyrood next week.
The news comes after two police officers were injured at a protest in Parkhead yesterday evening.
