THE final decision on the potential development of 30 new homes in the south of Glasgow is expected to be made today.

A planning application for social housing on Kilmuir Crescent will be discussed by Glasgow City Council planning chiefs this morning.

If approved, the proposed development, made up of 14 two-bedroom mid-terraces, six three-bed end terraces, five two-bed lower cottage flats and five two-bed upper cottage flats, would be sold to Glen Oaks Housing Association.

So far a total of 12 objections have been received from members of the public who claim that the new homes would have an adverse impact on the amenity of the existing properties due to loss of privacy and that the development would overshadow and result in loss of daylight for neighbouring properties.

They also claim that as a result of the new buildings, vehicles would park on the roadside, endangering other road users and children, and that the development could exacerbate the existing flood problems on the site.

If successful, the application will see new vehicle and pedestrian access created off Kilmuir Drive.

The applicant also proposes a linear amenity park to the rear of the properties which will incorporate childrens’ play equipment and seating.
